Softball Recap: North Stanly Comets vs. Maiden Blue Devils
North Stanly had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They came out on top against the Maiden Blue Devils by a score of 4-1 on Friday. Winning may never get old, but North Stanly sure is getting used to it with their fourth in a row.
Sophia Crist spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on two hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive pitching appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Leah Frick, who went 2-for-3 with a home run, two RBI, and a double. The team also got some help courtesy of Breauna Speight, who scored a run while going 2-for-2.
On Maiden's side, Macy Michael made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and got on base in all three of her plate appearances with a home run.
North Stanly's victory bumped their record up to 20-3-1. As for Maiden, their defeat dropped their record down to 17-5.
