Softball Recap: Oneida Takes a Loss

Oneida was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They came up short against the Eagleton College & Career Academy Royals, falling 11-1. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Royals this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 22-9 last Tuesday.

Oneida saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lillian Hailey, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI.

Oneida's defeat dropped their record down to 4-13. As for Eagleton College & Career Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-11-1 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Oneida will venture away from home to face off against Coalfield at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Yellow Jackets will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something the Indians surely won't give up without a fight. As for Eagleton College & Career Academy, they will head out on the road to take on Gatlinburg-Pittman at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Highlanders have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.67 runs per game on average), something the Royals will no doubt try to take advantage of.
