Softball Recap: King City Gets the Win

After losing to Stevenson the last time they met, King City decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. King City narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Stevenson 11-10. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Mustangs have posted since March 25, 2024.

Alizah Carrillo spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered six earned (and four unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up eight Ks. Those eight strikeouts gave her a new career-high.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Crystal Paramo, who scored two runs while going 3-for-3. Another player making a difference was Amity Hearne, who scored two runs while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.

Paramo wasn't the only one working in the hit department: King City kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. King City is 2-1 when they post 11 or more hits.

The win got King City back to even at 4-4. As for Stevenson, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 2-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. King City will face off against Atascadero at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. King City is facing Atascadero at the right time seeing as Atascadero is stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Stevenson, they are taking a road trip to challenge Soledad at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
