Baseball Recap: Brito Panthers vs. Westminster Academy Lions

Brito and Westminster Academy squared off in some playoff action on Wednesday, but Brito had to settle for second. They took a 6-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Westminster Academy Lions. Brito has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Anderson Ramirez was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-4 with a home run and a stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of Luis Amariz, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.

On Westminster Academy's side, they got a great performance from Colin Cartagena as he didn't allow a single earned run over 4.2 innings pitched. Cartagena has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive pitching appearances.

On the hitting side, Julian Irizarry was excellent, going 1-for-3 with a triple, a stolen base, and a run.

Brito's loss dropped their record down to 13-13. As for Westminster Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 15-12.

Brito does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Westminster Academy, they will head out on the road to take on Miami Christian at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Miami Christian is coming into the matchup with six straight wins at home, so Westminster Academy will have to stop a squad with plenty of momentum.
