Preview: Red Bluff Spartans vs. Pleasant Valley Vikings

Red Bluff is 0-9 against Pleasant Valley since November of 2014 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Red Bluff Spartans will be playing at home against the Pleasant Valley Vikings at 7:00 p.m. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Red Bluff can now show off three landslide victories after their most recent matchup on Friday. They blew past Enterprise 41-8 at home. The victory was just what Red Bluff needed coming off of a 34-6 loss in their prior matchup.

Jose (chacho) Chavez and Kayden Leaf were among the main playmakers for Red Bluff as the former rushed for 132 yards and two touchdowns and the latter rushed for 107 yards and two touchdowns.

Red Bluff's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB five times. In that department, Gage Lawrence was the leader with two sacks.

Meanwhile, while Pleasant Valley put up some points on Friday, the same can't be said for Shasta. Pleasant Valley came out on top against Shasta by a score of 10-0. The win was just what Pleasant Valley needed coming off of a 35-0 loss in their prior matchup.

Among those leading the charge was Quinntyn Thomas-Brass, who rushed for 96 yards and a touchdown on only 13 carries.

Red Bluff's victory bumped their record up to 5-3. As for Pleasant Valley, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season.

Friday's game might be decided on the ground as these two are both standouts in the run game. Red Bluff has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 246.2 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Pleasant Valley struggles in that department as they've been averaging 189 per game. It's looking like Friday's contest might have some serious battles in the trenches.

Red Bluff was taken down by Pleasant Valley 44-0 in their previous meeting back in November of 2022. Will Red Bluff have more luck at home instead of on the road?
