Softball Game Preview: Friendship Christian Commanders vs. Westmoreland Eagles

The Friendship Christian Commanders are taking a road trip to take on the Westmoreland Eagles at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Friendship Christian's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They were the clear victor by a 15-0 margin over Mount Juliet Christian Academy. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Commanders.

Meanwhile, everything went Westmoreland's way against Macon County on Thursday as Westmoreland made off with a 6-0 victory.

Lanie Cook Parkhurst made a splash no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over seven innings pitched. She also allowed three hits, marking her first of the season. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ellery Perdue, who scored a run while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in doubles (two). Amia Caldwell was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

Westmoreland now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Friendship Christian, their win bumped their record up to 7-3.

Everything went Friendship Christian's way against Westmoreland in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, as Friendship Christian made off with a 9-1 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Friendship Christian since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
