Softball Game Preview: Monona Grove Silver Eagles vs. Milton Red Hawks

Monona Grove and Milton are an even 5-5 against one another since May of 2017, but likely not for long. The Silver Eagles will head out on the road to square off against the Red Hawks at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Monona Grove is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak.

On Thursday, Monona Grove came up short against Oregon and fell 4-1.

Brooklyn Vanden Branden was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: she struck out six batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in six consecutive appearances.

Meanwhile, Milton scored first but ultimately less than Watertown in their match on Thursday. They fell just short of the Goslings by a score of 7-6.

Milton dropped their record down to 6-5 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road. As for Monona Grove, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-7.

Monona Grove couldn't quite get it done against Milton in their previous meeting back in May of 2024 as they fell 5-1. Can the Silver Eagles avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
