Football Recap: Bridgeport Skates Past Sutherland with Ease

Bridgeport entered their tilt with Sutherland on Friday with five consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with six. They claimed a resounding 59-0 win over the Sailors. The Bulldogs have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Sailors, too.

Henry Blanco was nothing short of spectacular: he rushed for 117 yards and four TDs on only 14 carries. Those four rushing touchdowns gave him a new career-high. Nikolas Weibert was another key player, rushing for 72 yards on only five carries.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Bridgeport was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 252 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 194 rushing yards in seven consecutive games.

Bridgeport didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Zackary Jeffords and Damon Barnett. Bridgeport got some further help from Landon Dean: he picked up a sack, forced one fumble, and made three total tackles (2.0 for loss).

Bridgeport's victory bumped their record up to 7-1. As for Sutherland, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-7.

Bridgeport has already played their next matchup, a 48-26 win against Clarkson/Leigh on the 23rd. Sutherland does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
