Softball Game Preview: Blackfoot Broncos vs. Hillcrest Knights

The Blackfoot Broncos will head out on the road to take on the Hillcrest Knights at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Blackfoot comes in on three and Hillcrest on six.

Blackfoot barely beat Skyline the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Broncos were the clear victors by a 17-2 margin over the Grizzlies on Monday. The Broncos might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 matches by six runs or more this season.

Kylee Pratt made a splash no matter where she played. She pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

In other batting news, Blackfoot got a massive performance out of Olivia Mickelsen, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Those three hits gave Mickelsen a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Berkley Moore, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run and three runs.

Blackfoot kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in 11 consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, it was close, but on Thursday Hillcrest sidestepped Skyline for a 6-5 win. That's two games straight that the Knights have won by just one run.

Hillcrest pushed their record up to 12-7 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.3 runs over those games. As for Blackfoot, their record is now 17-4.

Blackfoot couldn't quite get it done against Hillcrest in their previous meeting back in May of 2024 as they fell 8-5. Can the Broncos avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
