Softball Game Preview: Deer Park Deer vs. Clear Springs Chargers

The Deer Park Deer will square off against the Clear Springs Chargers at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.

Deer Park is probably headed into the game with a chip on their shoulder considering Brazoswood just ended the team's nine-game winning streak on Tuesday. They took a 6-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Buccaneers. The loss was just more heartbreak for the Deer, who fell 3-1 when the teams last met back in March of 2023.

Meanwhile, Clear Springs entered their tilt with Dickinson on Tuesday with six consecutive wins , and they'll enter their next game with seven. They came out on top against the Gators by a score of 8-5.

Grace Hirst looked comfortable as she tossed three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Alana Strever was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. That triple marked the first that she hit this season. Brooke Colianni was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one home run and one double.

Clear Springs pushed their record up to 12-2 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. As for Deer Park, their defeat dropped their record down to 14-5.
