The University Bulldogs will take on the D'Evelyn Jaguars on Wednesday. Both teams are coming into the match red-hot, with University sitting on 25 straight victories and D'Evelyn on four.
University is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Saturday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat St. Mary's Academy 67-28. The Bulldogs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 16 games by 20 points or more this season.
Addison Harding was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds. What's more, she posted five blocks, the most she's had since back in January. Allizzey Madrigal was another key player, shooting 45% from the field on her way to 14 points and six steals.
University smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in four consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, D'Evelyn didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Peak to Peak on Saturday, but they still walked away with a 47-41 win.
University better focus on containing Colleen Monahan and Ellie McMann as the pair were huge in D'Evelyn's win. Monahan dropped a double-double with 15 points and 11 boards, while McMann scored 19 points and five rebounds. McMann continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Giada Lampert, who put up five points.
University's victory bumped their record up to 25-0. As for D'Evelyn, their win bumped their record up to 22-3.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: University has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 30.5 boards per game. However, it's not like D'Evelyn struggles in that department as they've been averaging 30.5 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
University ended up a good deal behind D'Evelyn when the teams last played back in March of 2024, losing 55-39. Thankfully for University, Peyton Marvel (who dropped a double-double with 21 points and 15 boards) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
