Football Recap: Claremore's Victory on Friday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Claremore extended their winning streak to three on Friday, bumping them up to 3-0. They came within six points of losing the streak, but they secured a 39-33 W against the Hilldale Hornets. That's more bragging rights for the Zebras, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Cecil Garrett went supernova, rushing for 224 yards and a pair of touchdowns while picking up 7.5 yards per carry. Those 224 rushing yards gave him a new career-high.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Claremore was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 226 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 217 rushing yards every time they've taken the field this season.

As for Hilldale, they now have a losing record of 1-2. As for they, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-2.

Hilldale lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Brady Scott, who picked up 116 receiving yards and two scores, and also rushed for 47 yards and a pair of TDs. Scott is crushing it when it comes to receiving touchdowns: he's hauled in at least two every time he's taken the field this season. Another player making a difference was Dawson Fields, who threw for 284 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 10.5 yards per attempt.

Claremore wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 21-17 victory against Tahlequah on the 26th. As for Hilldale, they have also already played their next matchup, a 41-29 defeat against Sallisaw on the 26th.
