Softball Recap: Timber Creek Has No Trouble Against Odessa

Timber Creek was handed a heart-breaking two-run loss in their last match, but they sure didn't let that happen against Odessa on Friday. The Timber Creek Falcons put the hurt on the Odessa Bronchos with a sharp 10-2 win.

Carly Branscum made a splash while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run over 4.2 innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in strikeouts (four). She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two doubles and two RBI.

In other batting news, Timber Creek let Adrianna Vega and Ella Salazar run wild. Vega went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs, while Salazar scored three runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-2. The dominant performance also gave Salazar a new career-high in hits (two). Another player making a difference was Payton Alexander, who went 2-for-3 with one triple, one double, and one RBI.

Timber Creek was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .455. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive contests.

Timber Creek's victory bumped their record up to 9-3. As for Odessa, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-10 record this season.

Timber Creek didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 5-4 defeat against Guyer on the 28th. As for Odessa, they are taking a road trip to face off against Alpine at 12:00 p.m. on March 8th.
