            Football Recap: St. Patrick Fighting Irish vs. West Marion Trojans        
        
		
        
        
            St. Patrick lost against West Marion back in October of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result  on Friday. The Fighting Irish had to suffer through  a    49-7 loss at the hands of the Trojans. While losing is never fun, the Fighting Irish can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage  in MaxPreps' Mississippi football rankings (they are ranked 240th, while the Trojans are ranked 71st).
 West Marion got their  victory on the backs of several key players, but it was  Braxton Albritton out in front who threw for 305 yards and five  TDs while completing 75% of his passes. Albritton's passing game has become a key predictor of the Trojans' success: the team is undefeated when his passer rating is 100 or higher, but only 1-2 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of  Brandon Bullock, who picked up 174 receiving yards and a pair of  touchdowns.
This is the second loss in a row for St. Patrick and  nudges their season record down to 2-5. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 4-2 Presbyterian Christian (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 69% over those games). As for West Marion, the  win was  the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 5-2.
 We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. St. Patrick is set to  face off against  their familiar foe St. Stanislaus  at 7:00  p.m.  on Friday. Meanwhile, West Marion will  square off against  rival Presbyterian Christian  at 7:00  p.m.  on Friday. The two teams might be coming in a bit winded given these two teams combined for 904 yards in their previous games.
