Basketball Game Preview: Newcomb Skyhawks vs. Wingate Bears

The Newcomb Skyhawks will head out on the road to face off against the Wingate Bears at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Newcomb is coming into the matchup on a five-game losing streak.

Last Wednesday, Newcomb lost to Thoreau on the road by a 59-41 margin.

Zakkius Negale put forth a good effort for the losing side as he dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten boards. Those 12 points gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Ayden Willie, who posted nine points.

Meanwhile, Wingate unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Friday. They fell 65-55 to Zuni.

Newcomb's record now sits at 5-10. As for Wingate, their record now sits at 6-8.

Newcomb was able to grind out a solid victory over Wingate in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, winning 67-55. Does Newcomb have another victory up their sleeve, or will Wingate turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
