Baseball Game Preview: Batavia Bulldogs vs. Goshen Warriors

The Batavia Bulldogs will venture away from home to take on the Goshen Warriors at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.

Goshen will be up against a hot Batavia squad: the team just extended their winning streak to three. Batavia's pitchers stepped up to hand Wilmington a 10-0 shutout on Monday. The Bulldogs' pitching crew has been rock solid lately; the team hasn't given up a run in their last three matches.

Batavia let Brayden Schmittou and Bryce Eads run wild. Schmittou scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances, while Eads scored two runs while going 4-for-4. Those four hits gave Eads a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Mason Patrick, who scored two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Batavia hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most three strikeouts in four consecutive contests dating back to last season.

Meanwhile, Goshen had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They put the hurt on Bethel-Tate with a sharp 12-2 win on Saturday.

Batavia's victory bumped their record up to 3-0. As for Goshen, their win bumped their record up to 1-0.
