Basketball Recap: Central Christian Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Skipstone Academy came into Thursday's matchup looking for another win against Central Christian, but Rocky Steidinger wouldn't allow it. The Central Christian Crusaders took down the Skipstone Academy Warriors 68-52 on Thursday thanks in part to Steidinger, who dropped a double-double on 28 points and 22 boards. He is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down 11 or more in the last 19 games he's played dating back to last season.

The team also got some help courtesy of Carter Patterson, who posted four points along with seven rebounds and five steals. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in assists (three).

Despite the loss, Skipstone Academy still got an impressive performance from Scooter Barkley, who put up 34 points. That was a full 65.4% of Skipstone Academy's points, marking the fourth time in a row he's had more than a third of the team's points. Ayden Brumbalow was another key player, putting up six points.

Central Christian moved to 4-8 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak. As for Skipstone Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 5-4.

Central Christian will head out to take on Lafayette Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Skipstone Academy, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 56-44 defeat against Flint River Academy on the 13th.
