Baseball Recap: Ellet Wins Going Away Against Buchtel

While Ellet didn't have the best season last year (they finished 7-11), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They put the hurt on the Buchtel Griffins with a sharp 16-1 victory on Wednesday. The result was nothing new for the Orangemen, who have now won five games by ten runs or more so far this season.

Josh Sims made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Sims was also big at the plate, scoring three runs while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Austin Roach, who scored two runs while going 1-for-2. Keaton McKeel was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.

Ellet always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .634. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

The win made it two in a row for Ellet and bumps their season record up to 6-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 17.5 runs over those games. As for Buchtel, they are on a six-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.

Looking ahead, Ellet will head out on the road to face off against Southeast at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Buchtel, they will welcome Garfield at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Griffins are facing the Rams at the right time seeing as the Rams are stuck on a three-game losing streak.
