Watertown and Upperman are an even 5-5 against one another since March of 2016, but likely not for long. The Purple Tigers are taking a road trip to challenge the Bees at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Watertown's pitching crew has only allowed 2.5 runs per game this season, so Upperman's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

On Wednesday, Watertown didn't have quite enough to beat Mount Juliet and fell 4-2. The loss was the Purple Tigers' first of the season.

Meanwhile, Upperman had already won seven in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8 runs) and they went ahead and made it eight on Wednesday. They blew past the Tigers 9-3. Considering the Bees have won seven contests by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

The team relied heavily on Carson Shupe, who scored two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Evan Huddleston also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Upperman hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in four consecutive games.

Upperman's victory was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 12-7. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games. As for Watertown, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 15-1.

Watertown came out on top in a nail-biter against Upperman in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, sneaking past 5-3. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Purple Tigers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
