Football Game Preview: Frankton Eagles vs. Elwood Panthers

Frankton is 9-1 against Elwood since October of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Eagles will face off against the Panthers at 7:00 p.m. Elwood took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Frankton, who comes in off a win.

Frankton will roll into the matchup after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any points last Friday, then bounced right back against Blackford on Friday. The Eagles simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Bruins 40-13. Considering the Eagles' offense had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

Frankton relied on the efforts of Eli Wachs, who rushed for 88 yards and three TDs on only 11 carries, and Rowan Branham, who threw for 118 yards and a pair of touchdowns. The dominant performance also gave Branham a new career-high in rushing yards (57). Caine Oakley was in the mix too, providing Frankton with one score.

Meanwhile, Elwood was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They were beaten by Oak Hill 42-0.

Frankton's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-7. As for Elwood, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-6.

Everything came up roses for Frankton against Elwood in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, as the team secured a 42-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
