Baseball Game Preview: Our Lady of Good Counsel Falcons vs. Riverdale Baptist Crusaders

The Our Lady of Good Counsel Falcons will face off against the Riverdale Baptist Crusaders at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Our Lady of Good Counsel will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last.

Our Lady of Good Counsel fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Archbishop Curley on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Friars by a score of 10-9.

Our Lady of Good Counsel saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jordan Hassan, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Riverdale Baptist didn't have quite enough to beat Fairfax HomeSchool on Tuesday and fell 4-3. The defeat continues a trend for the Crusaders in their meetings with the Hawks: they've now lost four in a row.

Our Lady of Good Counsel has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 14-8 record this season. As for Riverdale Baptist, their loss dropped their record down to 10-6.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Our Lady of Good Counsel has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.6 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Riverdale Baptist struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.1 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.

Our Lady of Good Counsel might still be hurting after the 18-3 defeat they got from Riverdale Baptist when the teams last played back in April of 2017. Can the Falcons avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
