Softball Game Preview: Alba-Golden Panthers vs. Shelbyville Dragons

The Alba-Golden Panthers will face off against the Shelbyville Dragons on Saturday. Alba-Golden will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.

Alba-Golden is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Saturday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Frankston, sneaking past 12-11.

Meanwhile, Shelbyville had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. Everything went their way against the Cougars as they made off with a 19-3 victory.

Lanie Bass made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits (and not a single walk). That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in March. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

In other batting news, Shelbyville got a massive performance out of Carsey Lovell, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI. Another player making a difference was Nicole Harvey, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and one stolen base.

Shelbyville lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

Alba-Golden's win was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 20-8. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.4 runs over those games. As for Shelbyville, their record now sits at 21-10.
