Baseball Recap: Mcfarland Snaps Seven-Game Streak of Wins on the Road

McFarland dropped their record down to 15-6 on Thursday, which also ended the team's seven-game streak of wins on the road. They took a 7-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Reedsburg Beavers. The Spartans were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Beavers apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

As for Reedsburg, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 18-4. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.8 runs over those games.

For Reedsburg's part, Alek Southworth was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Winston Alonso, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

Coming up, McFarland will square off against Oregon at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Reedsburg will be paying especially close attention to the Spartans' contest: after the Spartans face off against the Panthers, they'll take on Reedsburg again at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
