Football Game Preview: Lecanto Panthers vs. Nature Coast Tech Sharks

The Lecanto Panthers will take on the Nature Coast Tech Sharks at 8:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with Lecanto sitting on six straight victories and Nature Coast Tech on four.

Lecanto's offense will try to repeat the strong performance it gave on Thursday, when they got past Weeki Wachee's usually-dominant defense. The Panthers put the hurt on the Hornets with a sharp 32-7 win.

A big part of Lecanto's victory came down to the chemistry between Peyton Dison and her top target Brooke Dison. Peyton threw for 144 yards and three touchdowns while Brooke picked up 54 receiving yards and a pair of scores. That's the most passing yards Peyton has posted since back in April of 2024. Kyleigh Spradley made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.

Lecanto didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off four passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Trinity Converse and Spradley. Converse has become a key player for Lecanto: the team is undefeated when she posts at least one interception, but 3-7 otherwise. Spradley got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Meanwhile, Nature Coast Tech didn't have too much trouble with Anclote on Tuesday as they won 25-6. Given Nature Coast Tech's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida football rankings (they are ranked 43rd, while Anclote is ranked 344th) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Nature Coast Tech's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-3. The home victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 6.0 points on average over those games. As for Lecanto, their win bumped their record up to 6-7.

Everything came up roses for Lecanto against Nature Coast Tech when the teams last played back in February of 2024, as the team secured a 27-0 victory. Will the Panthers repeat their success, or do the Sharks have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
