Volleyball Game Preview: Fairmont Golden Tornadoes vs. West Bladen Knights

The Fairmont Golden Tornadoes will challenge the West Bladen Knights at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

On Thursday, Fairmont didn't have quite enough to beat South Columbus and fell 3-2. The Golden Tornadoes have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back matches.

In a back-and-forth that saw neither team win consecutive sets, Fairmont sadly dropped the once that decided the match. The final score came out to 25-20, 18-25, 25-13, 12-25, 15-9.

Despite the loss, Fairmont saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Jerrian Taylor had 17 digs and one assist. Taylor is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had ten or more in each of the last ten games she's played. Another player making a difference was Layla Hunt, who had 14 assists and nine aces.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for West Bladen, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over Whiteville on Thursday.

Fairmont's defeat dropped their record down to 4-12. As for West Bladen, they pushed their record up to 11-2 with the victory, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season.
