Preview: Charleston vs. East Prairie
If the MaxPreps state rankings hold true, the near future looks bright for Charleston. East Prairie and Charleston go head to head on Friday at 7:00 PM in their first playoff contest of the year. East Prairie will need to watch out since Charleston have now posted big point totals in their last three contests.
Their game the last time the two teams met wasn't at all kind to East Prairie, but their most recent game may have softened the blow. They were able to grind out a solid victory over Fredericktown last Friday, winning 32-22. Senior Derez Tipler was the offensive standout of the match for East Prairie, as he rushed for 230 yards and 5 touchdowns. That makes it five straight good games in a row from Tipler.
Meanwhile, Charleston put the finishing touches on their 5th blowout victory of the season. They were fully in charge, breezing past Herculaneum 52-6. Charleston are sitting pretty right now with seven consecutive wins.
Their wins bumped East Prairie to 3-6 and Charleston to 8-1. We'll see which team can carry over their success and which team inevitably falls when East Prairie and Charleston clash.
