Recap: Kearny Komets vs. High Tech SD Storm

The Kearny Komets's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fifth straight defeat. They fell 61-52 to High Tech SD. Kearny has struggled against High Tech SD recently, as their contest on Friday was their eighth consecutive lost matchup.

Kearny's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Cameron Ackerman, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 11 rebounds. Ackerman is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down ten or more in the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Charles Thomas, who scored seven points along with three steals.

High Tech SD got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Severin Stone out in front who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds. Anthony Gonzalez was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with three steals.

Kearny has been struggling recently as they've lost 13 of their last 14 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-20 record this season. As for High Tech SD, their win bumped their record up to 6-18.

Kearny won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Hilltop at 4:30 p.m. on February 3rd. Hilltop is on a 12-game streak of home losses, Kearny an eight-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck is about to change. High Tech SD will take on Mira Mesa at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Mira Mesa will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something High Tech SD surely won't give up without a fight.
