Soccer Game Preview: Immanuel vs. Liberty

It'll be Battle of the Birds when the Immanuel take on the Liberty at 1:00 p.m. on Friday... Immanuel is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 4.1 goals per game this season.

Immanuel is headed into the game without a loss and will look to keep things rolling. Their defense stepped up to hand Fresno Christian a 6-0 shutout on Friday. The result was nothing new for Immanuel, who have now won three matches by six goals or more so far this season.

Their offense was hitting Fresno Christian from everywhere, as five different players booted in a goal. Carter Zulik led that balanced group of strikers and accounted for two goals all by himself.

Meanwhile, Liberty was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They might have been a little too into the holiday spirit, gifting Roosevelt an easy 4-0 victory. While losing is never fun, the Hawks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 945th, while the Rough Riders are ranked 374th).

Immanuel pushed their record up to 6-0-1 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only given up one goal over those three contests. As for Liberty, their loss dropped their record down to 1-8-2.
