Basketball Recap: El Capitan Vaqueros vs. Monte Vista Monarchs
El Capitan lost against Monte Vista back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The El Capitan Vaqueros were dealt a 71-37 loss at the hands of the Monte Vista Monarchs. The Vaqueros were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 44-20.
Several Vaqueros players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Kayden McMahon, who went 5 for 12 en route to 13 points and seven rebounds. That's the most points McMahon has posted since back in February of 2024. Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Monte Vista to victory, but perhaps none more so than Garret Tully, who scored 11 points. El Capitan has been struggling recently as they've lost 11 of their last 14 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-14 record this season. As for Monte Vista, the win was the eighth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 12-8.
El Capitan wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 71-31 defeat against Helix on the 17th. As for Monte Vista, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 68-64 loss against Mount Miguel on the 17th.
