Football Recap: New Braunfels Thunder Starts Season with Win Against Coastal Christian Homeschool

New Braunfels Thunder had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat the Coastal Christian HomeSchool Badgers 46-0.

Leading New Braunfels Thunder to victory were John Kroesche and Aaron Ford. Kroesche gained 125 total yards and two touchdowns, while Ford rushed for 82 yards and one score. Those 82 rushing yards gave Ford a new career-high.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: New Braunfels Thunder was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 242 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 193 rushing yards in five consecutive contests dating back to last season.

On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to New Braunfels Thunder's defense and their three sacks. Patrick Goodman was particularly dangerous to the passing game, picking up two himself. New Braunfels Thunder received some extra help from Matt Hicks, whose fumble return for a touchdown made for one of the most unforgettable moments.

Looking ahead, New Braunfels Thunder will head out on the road to face off against Prairie Lea at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Coastal Christian HomeSchool, they will be playing at home against Annapolis Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
