Basketball Recap: Mitchell County Skates Past Pataula Charter Academy with Ease

Mitchell County waltzed into their contest on Tuesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They took their match with ease, bagging a 58-22 win over the Pataula Charter Academy Panthers. The game was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Eagles had established a 33 point advantage.

Mitchell County got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Sariyah Chester out in front who went 8 for 20 en route to 18 points along with eight boards and three steals. The dominant performance gave Chester a new career-high in points. A'Mya Daniels also deserves some recognition as she grabbed her first steals of the season.

Mitchell County smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Pataula Charter Academy only pulled down one offensive rebound.

Despite the defeat, Pataula Charter Academy saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Kelsie Tillman posted 11 points. Another player making a difference was Emily English, who scored four points.

Mitchell County's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-9. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.0 points per game. As for Pataula Charter Academy, they are on an eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-11.

Mitchell County didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 42-36 loss against Calhoun County on the 17th. As for Pataula Charter Academy, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 37-31 victory against Quitman County on the 17th.
