Baseball Recap: Carmel Comes Up Short

Carmel and Westfield squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but Carmel had to settle for second. They took a 5-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Shamrocks. The matchup marked the first time this year in which the Greyhounds were not able to get on the board.

Carmel's loss dropped their record down to 16-9. As for Westfield, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-9 record this season.

Carmel will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on McCutcheon at 7:00 p.m. on September 9. As for Westfield, they will challenge Fishers at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Shamrocks 3.7, the Tigers 3.7) so any runs scored will be well earned.
