Volleyball Game Preview: Berkeley Yellowjackets vs. Bishop O'Dowd Dragons

Berkeley hasn't had much luck against Bishop O'Dowd recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Yellowjackets will head out on the road to take on the Dragons at 6:30 p.m. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Berkeley had to skate by with only a one-set margin when they last took the court, which might have inspired the three-set drubbing they dealt Piedmont on Wednesday. The Yellowjackets were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Highlanders.

Not only was the match a shutout, it was a big one: Berkeley took every set by at least ten points. The match finished with set scores of 25-14, 25-15, 25-13.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Bishop O'Dowd, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. They walked away with a 3-1 win over Alameda on Wednesday.

Bishop O'Dowd had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 17-25, 25-18, 25-15, 25-21.

Berkeley is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 14-7 record this season. As for Bishop O'Dowd, their victory bumped their record up to 16-13.

Berkeley couldn't quite get it done against Bishop O'Dowd in their previous matchup back in September as they fell 3-1. Can the Yellowjackets avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
