Baseball Recap: Caliche Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Caliche, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They blew past the Weldon Valley Warriors 19-4 on Monday. With that win, the Buffaloes brought their scoring average up to 7.7 runs per game.

The team relied heavily on Colton Cochran, who scored two runs and stole four bases while going 2-for-2. He is becoming a predictor of Caliche's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 2-1 (and 0-3 when he doesn't). Peter Brekel was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.

Caliche was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Weldon Valley only posted a batting average of .294.

Caliche's victory bumped their record up to 2-4. As for Weldon Valley, their loss was their 14th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-8.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Caliche will head out to challenge Wiggins at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Weldon Valley, they will venture away from home to take on Denver Academy at 2:30 p.m. on Friday.
