Softball Recap: Crittenden County Rockets vs. Lyon County Lyons
Crittenden County extended their losing streak to four on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 9-11 in the process. They lost 13-4 to the Lyon County Lyons. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Lyons this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 5-2 back in April.
As for Lyon County, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 11-13-1. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games.
For Lyon County's part, Lilly Perry made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched seven innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits. Perry has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-5 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April.
In other batting news, Lyon County got a massive performance out of Ava Prow, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI. That's the most doubles Prow has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Jenna Coursey, who went 3-for-5 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Crittenden County will square off against Murray at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Lyon County, they will take on Daviess County at 7:15 p.m. on Friday.
