Volleyball Recap: St. Mary's Falls to Riverside-Durham in First Game of Season + How To Watch

St. Mary had to hit the road for their first game and it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They fell 3-1 to the Riverside-Durham Pirates on Monday. The Saints were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Pirates apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in September of 2023.

St. Mary's was was forced to take the loss, but they sure made Riverside-Durham work for it, especially in the first set. The final score came out to 26-24, 25-19, 14-25, 25-20.

The win (which was Riverside-Durham's third in a row) raised their record to 4-1.

St. Mary's will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Covenant Day at 4:15 p.m. on September 5. As for Riverside-Durham, they will challenge Vance County at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
