Softball Recap: Maumee Picks Up Seventh Straight Win on the Road

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Maumee ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They came out on top against the Swanton Bulldogs by a score of 6-3. The Panthers have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Bulldogs, too.

Julia Coutcher was a major factor no matter where she played. She pitched four innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. What's more, she posted four strikeouts, the most she's had since back in April of 2024. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 1-for-2.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Reign Hurt, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Autumn Gugger, who went 1-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

Maumee pushed their record up to 2-0 with the victory, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.3 runs over those games. As for Swanton, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-2.

Looking ahead, Maumee will take on Clay at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Swanton, they will face off against Montpelier at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
