Softball Recap: Hayes Comes Up Short

Hayes and Grove City squared off in some playoff action on Wednesday, but Hayes had to settle for second. They fell just short of the Greyhounds by a score of 5-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Pacers have suffered since May 1, 2024.

Bronwynn Leighty spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and three unearned) runs on nine hits and racked up ten Ks.

On the hitting side, Zee Brown made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. Another player making a difference was Lizzy Gould, who earned one run and two stolen bases.

Hayes' defeat dropped their record down to 25-3. As for Grove City, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 13-10.

As of now, neither Hayes nor the Greyhounds have any future games scheduled.
