Basketball Game Preview: Villa Madonna Vikings vs. St. Patrick Saints

Having just played yesterday, the Villa Madonna Vikings will head out on the road to face off against the St. Patrick Saints at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with four consecutive losses for Villa Madonna and seven for St. Patrick.

On Monday, Villa Madonna lost to Holmes at home by a 61-46 margin.

Villa Madonna's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Quinn Thomas, who went 6 for 11 to rack up 12 points and three steals, and Zach Webb, who went 5 of 7 en route to 12 points. What's more, Webb also posted a 71% shooting accuracy, which is the highest he's posted since back in December of 2024. Michael J Popham was another key player, almost dropping a double-double with nine points and nine rebounds.

Even though they lost, Villa Madonna smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in three consecutive matches.

Meanwhile, St. Patrick had to suffer through a 79-46 loss at the hands of Bracken County.

St. Patrick's defeat dropped their record down to 2-18. As for Villa Madonna, their loss dropped their record down to 4-20.

Everything came up roses for Villa Madonna against St. Patrick in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, as the squad secured a 77-33 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Villa Madonna since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
