Baseball Game Preview: Roanoke Catholic Celtics vs. Fleming Colonels

The Roanoke Catholic Celtics will square off against the Fleming Colonels at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with five consecutive losses for Roanoke Catholic and 27 for Fleming dating back to last season.

Last Thursday, Roanoke Catholic didn't have quite enough to beat Hargrave Military Academy and fell 10-9.

William Poff was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run and stealing three bases while going 1-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of Noah Peck, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.

Meanwhile, Fleming fell victim to Floyd County and their airtight pitching crew on Monday. They lost 13-0 to the Buffaloes.

Fleming's loss dropped their record down to 0-6. As for Roanoke Catholic, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-7.

Roanoke Catholic was able to grind out a solid win over Fleming when the teams last played back in March of 2024, winning 13-9. Do the Celtics have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Colonels turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
