Baseball Recap: Squalicum Takes a Loss

Squalicum extended their losing streak to four on Friday, dropping their season record down to 1-12 in the process. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of the Lakewood Cougars. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since April 3, 2018, but that streak is no more.

As for Lakewood, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-9 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games.

For Lakewood's part, they saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Tejay Hoiland, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run and one RBI.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Squalicum is set to face off against their familiar foe Oak Harbor at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Lakewood will square off against rival Blaine at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
