Preview: St. Edward's Pirates vs. Palm Beach Christian Prep Saints
The St. Edward's Pirates will face off against the Palm Beach Christian Prep Saints at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Last Thursday, St. Edward's didn't have too much trouble with Faith Christian at home as they won 37-21.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead St. Edward's to victory, but perhaps none more so than Nicky Colontrelle, who picked up 104 receiving yards and three touchdowns. The team also got some help courtesy of Nate Sparkman, who threw for 159 yards and three touchdowns while completing 74.2% of his passes.
The team's defense also helped out by holding Faith Christian to a paltry 236 yards. A big part of that defensive dominance came down to St. Edward's ability to keep the quarterback under pressure: the team laid him out three times before it was all said and done. Leading the way was Gary Anderson and his two sacks.
Meanwhile, Palm Beach Christian Prep had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 17 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They blew past Central Florida Christian Academy 42-6 on the road. The match was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 30-6.
Grant Turner had a dynamite game for Palm Beach Christian Prep, throwing for 280 yards and four touchdowns on only 15 passes. Kawan Ingraham was another key contributor, picking up 67 receiving yards and a touchdown.
St. Edward's victory bumped their record up to 3-5. As for Palm Beach Christian Prep, their win was their third straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 3-4.
St. Edward's took a serious blow against Palm Beach Christian Prep when the teams last played back in October of 2022, falling 42-0. Can St. Edward's avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
