Preview: Franklinton Rams vs. Bunn Wildcats

Franklinton is 8-2 against the Wildcats since November of 2018, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Franklinton Rams will be playing in front of their home fans against the Bunn Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. The timing is sure in Franklinton's favor as the squad sits on nine straight wins at home while the Wildcats have been banged up by 18 consecutive losses on the road dating back to last season.

Last Tuesday, Franklinton strolled past the Bulldogs with points to spare, taking the game 59-40. Given Franklinton's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 66th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 205th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Franklinton's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Mikayla Taborn, who scored 21 points along with five rebounds and four blocks. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Taborn has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Rihanna Hunt, who scored 12 points along with eight rebounds and two blocks.

Meanwhile, Bunn came up short against the Firebirds on Wednesday and fell 38-31. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Bunn in their matchups with the Firebirds: they've now lost three in a row.

Franklinton's win bumped their record up to 17-1. As for Bunn, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-16.

Everything came up roses for Franklinton against the Wildcats in their previous meeting back in January as the squad secured a 55-17 victory. Does Franklinton have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Wildcats turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
