Baseball Game Preview: Mission Oak Hawks vs. Hanford Bullpups

The Mission Oak Hawks will challenge the Hanford Bullpups at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Hanford took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Mission Oak, who comes in off a win.

Hanford will be up against a hot Mission Oak team: the squad just extended their winning streak to three. The Hawks put the hurt on Tulare Union with a sharp 8-1 win on Friday.

Jeremiah Taylor made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Those six strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, Gage Hastin was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3. He also hit a triple, marking his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Nick Retiz, who went 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Hanford unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Friday. They took a 7-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of Tulare Western.

Hanford also got a good showing from Carlos Perez Jr, who didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched.

On the hitting side, Thane Herman made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Hanford's defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 5-1 and their overall record down to 9-5. As for Mission Oak, their victory bumped their record up to 5-7-1.

Mission Oak couldn't quite get it done against Hanford in their previous meeting back in May of 2024 as they fell 7-2. Can the Hawks avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
