Preview: Newton Rams vs. Parkview Panthers

Newton has been on the road for two straight, but on Friday they'll finally head home. They will take on The Parkview Panthers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Newton will be hoping to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each match than the last.

Last Friday, Newton really took it to Brookwood for the full four quarters, racking up a 44-17 victory on the road. The result was nothing new for Newton, who have now won four games by 27 points or more so far this season.

Zion Johnson continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 198 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 8.3 yards per carry. Johnson is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last three games he's played. Marcus Calwise was another key contributor, gaining 135 total yards and a touchdown.

Meanwhile, Parkview and Archer were almost perfectly matched up on Friday, but Parkview suffered an agonizing 28-27 defeat.

Despite the loss, Parkview got a solid performance out of Jaiden Jenkins, who rushed for 42 yards and a touchdown, and also threw for 144 yards and a touchdown. Another big playmaker for Parkview was Antonio White-Williams, who returned a punt for a touchdown.

Newton's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 7-0. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 44.8 points per game. As for Parkview, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-2.

Keep an eye on the end zone in Friday's game as Newton and Parkview haven't had much trouble getting there this season. Newton commands a daunting offense this season, having averaged 4.9 touchdowns per game. However, it's not like Parkview struggles in that department as they've been even better at 5.3 per game. With these two high-octane teams facing off on Friday, fans should be in for an exciting offensive matchup.

Newton skirted past Parkview 20-18 when the teams last played back in October of 2022. Does Newton have another victory up their sleeve, or will Parkview turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
