Softball Game Preview: Mt. Blue Cougars vs. Edward Little Red Eddies

Mt. Blue is 1-9 against Edward Little since May of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Cougars will look to defend their home field against the Red Eddies at 4:00 p.m. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Mt. Blue will bounce into Wednesday's game after beating Messalonskee, who they had gone 0-9 against in their nine prior meetings. The Cougars had just enough and edged out the Eagles 7-6 on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Edward Little). Their pitcher stepped up to hand Brunswick a 10-0 shutout on Monday. The high-scoring effort was just what the Red Eddies needed considering they were shut out in their previous contest.

Not much got past Kassidy Lobb, who gave up just two hits to keep Brunswick off the board. Lobb has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Alexis Kelsea was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and one triple. That triple was her first of the season. Kylee Lebrun was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one double.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Edward Little kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Brunswick only managed two hits.

The victory snapped Edward Little's losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 4-3 record. As for Mt. Blue, their win bumped their record up to 4-2.
