Basketball Recap: Mt. Carmel Takes a Loss

Mt. Carmel suffered their closest loss since January 26, 2024 on Friday. They fell just short of the Westview Wolverines by a score of 36-34. The Sundevils were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Wolverines apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2024.

Despite the loss, Mt. Carmel saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Tyler Humphrey dropped a double-double on 15 points and 11 rebounds. Makai Orje was another key player, putting up ten points.

Mt. Carmel is on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-17. As for Westview, the win snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 12-10 record.

Mt. Carmel and Westview could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps California Rankings. Mt. Carmel will take on Del Norte at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday down 351 places (688 vs. 337). Meanwhile, Westview (ranked 504th) will meet Mission Hills (ranked 191st) at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
