Volleyball Recap: Classical Takes a Loss + How To Watch

After flying high against East Greenwich on Thursday, Classical came back down to earth. The Lady Purple/Athena fell just short of the Barrington Eagles by a score of 3-2 on Monday. The Lady Purple/Athena were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Eagles earlier this season, when they won 3-0.

Classical was was forced to take the loss, but they sure made Barrington work for it, especially in the first set. The final score came out to 26-24, 23-25, 25-23, 19-25, 15-9.

Barrington got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Josh Shanty out in front who had 14 digs and one assist. That's the most digs Shanty has posted over his last seven matches.

Classical has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-8 record this season. As for Barrington, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-5.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Classical will challenge rival North Smithfield at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Barrington is set to face off against their familiar foe Cranston West at 5:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
