Baseball Recap: Eastlake Makes It Six in a Row at Home

Eastlake won the last time they faced Bonita Vista and things went their way on Friday too. The Titans narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Barons 7-6. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Titans.

Austin Stroberg was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Joel Vargas was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one run.

Eastlake was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .419. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Eastlake's victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-8-1. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.5 runs over those games. As for Bonita Vista, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-16.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Eastlake will square off against San Ysidro at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Titans 2.7, the Cougars 3.9) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Bonita Vista, they will face off against Montgomery at 3:30 p.m. on Monday.
