Volleyball Recap: Juan Diego Catholic Comes Up Short

If Juan Diego Catholic was feeling good fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Providence Hall last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Soaring Eagle lost 3-0 to the Carbon Dinos on Thursday. The loss continues a trend for the Soaring Eagle in their meetings with the Dinos: they've now lost four in a row.

While Juan Diego Catholic was kept off the board, it wasn't for a lack of trying: they cut into Carbon's winning margin in every set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-11, 25-17, 25-18.

Carbon found their leader in sophomore Grant Mathis, who had three digs and three aces.

Juan Diego Catholic's defeat dropped their record down to 6-12. As for Carbon, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-5 record this season.

Juan Diego Catholic is taking a road trip to square off against Juab at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Carbon, they will take on Utah Military Academy - Camp Williams in a tournament on Friday.
